Every item by Kupkake Blue is handmade with care. We want your jewelry to be long-lasting, so here are a few tips to ensure your items are as good as new from the first day you received your order:
Corrosion of jewelry occurs under moist or wet conditions, especially when exposed to warmth and air. To prevent product buildup such as makeup, hair products, body oil/lotion on your jewelry, you can use a soft cloth to clean and polish. A safe way to clean jewelry is to pour a small amount of mild liquid detergent (pH neutral) in lukewarm water and use a small soft brush. Two brushes are an idea for cleaning intricate designs that can otherwise be difficult to clean. Avoid home remedies such as using toothpaste, cola, etc. These kinds of remedies will often damage the jewelry. Toothpaste contains an abrasive, and cola is acidic. Both will damage the surface of precious metals. Stay away from jewelry cleaners and harsh soaps, which may have components to cause metals to wear down. To keep your piece looking its best, follow our care suggestions: avoid chemicals, extreme heat due to scented fragrances within jewelry, close sunlight, and hitting your jewelry on hard surfaces. Do not expose your jewelry to contact with makeup, hairspray, creams, and perfumes, as they can help speed up the tarnishing process. Avoid exposing your jewelry to household chemicals when cleaning with bleach and ammonia or swimming in chlorinated or salt water, as it can also cause damage. A good rule of thumb is to let jewelry be the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing removed in the evening, and always store jewelry in a pouch or jewelry box. Use only professional jewelry cleaners. Over time your items may tarnish if kept near metal objects. Do not wear during exercise. It should be stored separately in a tarnish-resistant pouch or lined protective box when jewelry is not worn.
